Chiang Rai Flower Festival

Date : December 25, 2010 - January 3, 2011

Event Details :
Contests of decorative plants, orchids and orchid farms, horticultural exhibitions, sales of agricultural produce, fruit trees, ornamental plants, tea and coffee, sales of OTOP products, beauty contest and Miss Teen Contest. In these years, the festival will include another interesting feature – a floral procession.

Akha Hill Tribes Mini Light and Sound Presentation

Event Details :Chiang Rai province hosts its annual light and sound show that presents insights into the culture and daily life of the Aka hill tribes, resident in hilltop villages in Mae Chan District.

First introduced in 1999, the show is now staged once a month during the tourist high season from January to April.

This month, the show will be presented, January through April at the Chiang Rai Social Development Centre 12 on the Doi Mae Salong road in Pa Sang Sub-district of Mae Chan.

Aka hill tribe villagers perform at the center demonstrating authentic renderings of their culture and lifestyle to visitors. There are also handicrafts on display.

How to get there:

By Bus

 

The coach ride from Bangkok to Chiang Rai is probably best made overnight since passengers can avail themselves of sleep prior to an early morning arrival. There are both air-conditioned and non-air-conditioned bus services from Bangkok's Northern Bus Terminal (Mochit 2 Bus Terminal) on Kamphaengphet 2 Road. The journey may take approximately 9-11 hours.

By Train

 

There is no direct train to Chiang Rai. You have to take a train to Lampang ,(9 hrs. from Bangkok) or Chiang Mai (11 hrs.) and then take a bus to Chiang Rai.
