Director's Message

SAWATDI KHRAP.

I HOPE you have had a chance to enjoy our Thai New Year and Songkran Festival in mid-April. Now I am happy to invite you for another popular event among Malaysians. And to make sure that you do not miss out, we are having it for a whole two months.

That's right, it's the annual Amazing Thailand Grand Sale from June 15-August 15. Participating outlets in Bangkok, Chiangmai, Phuket, Hat Yai, Hua Hin, Koh Samui, Pattaya and other famous destinations in Thailand would be offering up to 80 percent discounts on selected items.

Jazz lovers are also reminded that the Hua Hin Jazz Festival would be held again this year in early June. Better make your travel plans early. July is a special occasion for the people of Loei Province in North-East Thailand as this is when the Phitakon Festival will be held. The festival is held to worship spirits, the protectors of the village, and to ask for plentiful rain for the coming farming season.

Another equally colourful festival would be held in Yasothon Province, that is the rocket festival or the Bun Bang Fai. The festival stems from the Thai traditional beliefs of supernatural powers and is held annually to ask for rain. Travels agents should also take note that the Thailand Travel Mart+ 2013 would also be held in June. More than 300 sellers from various sectors of the tourism and hospitality industry are expected to take part in the TTM+ 2013. Good news for food lovers as well. Following last year's success, the Thailand Splash and Spice has returned with an attractive variety of dining and accommodation specials.

We are also happy to announce that Thai Airways International, through Thai SMILES, had started four weekly flights between Phuket and Kuala Lumpur from the beginning of April, adding to the various flights available currently. In conjunction with the flight, we had organised an agent and media educational trip to Phuket and beyond. The additional flights open up more avenues for visitors to travel to the island, which is among the most popular destination for Malaysians, known for its beautiful beaches, popular golf courses, great food and shopping.

So my dear friends, there is no excuse for you not to visit Thailand in the next two months. We have everything to suit your tastes and fancies, be it shopping and festivals to food and music.

See you soon in Amazing Thailand.
