The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is organizing “Amazing Thailand Countdown 2019” celebrations in Bangkok and four emerging tourism provinces in each of the four regions of Thailand.

Spectacular fireworks and music and dance performances celebrating Thailand’s rich and diverse cultural heritage as well as the importance of travel and tourism to the national economy will be held at the following locations:

Bangkok: ICONSIAM, the glittering new shopping, entertainment and educational complex on the Chao Phraya River, the River of Kings
Northern Region: Clock Tower, Chiang Rai province
Northeastern Region: Clock Tower, Nakhon Phanom province
Central Region: Clock Tower, Ratchaburi province
Southern Region: Pakbara Pier, Satun province

Bangkok Countdown

Six hours of back-to-back celebrations and performances based on the theme of “The River of Prosperity” being jointly organized by TAT and ICONSIAM in collaboration with numerous other private and public sector partners. It'll begin at 18.00 Hrs. on 31 December 2018.

The best visibility spots: Peninsula Hotel, Millennial Hilton Hotel, Shangri-La Hotel, Mandarin Oriental Hotel, and Royal Orchid Sheraton Hotel, Sathorn Bridge, Chaloem Phrakiat Park, Sathon Pier, Police Station 2, Khlong San Pier, Sampheng Parking Lot, CAT-Bang Rak Branch, Wat Suwan Pier, Siam Commercial Bank and LHONG 1919.

Enjoy the festive New Year's Eve in Bangkok at Skywalk Façade, Skywalk Decoration, Skywalk Photo Point and Boulevard near Ratchaprasong Intersection to celebrate 2019. The countdown will start from 18.00 hrs to midnight.


AirAsia expands its network through the year-end of 2018 by adding route directly from Kuala Lumpur to Chiang Rai (4 x weekly flights). Chiang Rai is one of the most alluring destinations in Thailand. This town in the northern region offers a staggering range of amazing attractions. The rolling hills, sweeping mountains, lush green forests and nature, and rich melting pot of cultures, extravagant resorts and spas, and the way of living of the locals.

Date: Now – 27th January 2019
Venue: Pasak Jolasid Dam, Lopburi

A good way to explore Thailand if you don’t have your own transport is to join a weekend train
excursion. It is a great way to meet local Thai people and to see the countryside. The latest
train excursion to be offered by the State Railway of Thailand is to Pasak Jolasid Dam in Lopburi.
The weekend train excursions from Bangkok to Pasak Jolasid Dam leave on 5, 6 12, 13, 19, 20,
26, 27 January 2019.

Venue: Bor Sang Umbrella Village, Chiang Mai

This annual event celebrates Bor Sang village’s reputation as the community that creates Thailand’s most famous umbrellas made from Sa paper.

KL Photography Festival 2018

Date: 26th – 28th October 2018
Venue: Mid Valley Exhibition Center , KL

TAT KL promoted places in Thailand where photographers can have a blast catching pictures while enjoying travelling. Thailand booth also provided a photo backdrop wall where visitors can enjoy taking selfie and upload to their social media.

FAM Trip to Koh Lipe

Date: 8th – 12th November 2018
Venue: Koh Lipe, Satun

Continuing with the 2nd city promotion effort, TAT KL hosted a FAM trip to Koh Lipe and Satun. The trip features activities and attractions around Koh Lipe and Satun for agents and media to promote to Malaysians. A B2B table top session was also held in Satun where local agents made some business contacts with Malaysia’s travel agents.

Thailand Biennale Krabi 2018

Date: 5-7 December 2018
Venue: Krabi

TAT KL brought Malaysian media and bloggers to visit Thailand Biennale Krabi 2018. In this event, artists from all over the world exhibit their artworks outdoors on natural sites in Krabi. Apart from spectacular natural attractions, art lovers will enjoy amazing creative works, as a new shade of Krabi to explore. The exhibition will be on display until 28 Feb 2019.


Thank You Party

Date: 14 December 2018
Venue: Redbox, Pavillion, KL

TAT KL held a Thank you party to extend its gratitude for partners and media. TAT wrapped up it's 2018 performance and activities in the presentation as well as sharing an insight of its 2019 plan. Participants enjoyed Thai food demonstration of Miang Kham and Thai Song Singing Contest in this funfilled year-end celebration.
